05 Sep 2017

The International Association for the Economics of Participation (IAFEP) is calling for papers for the 19th edition of its biannual conference. Next year’s conference takes place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 12-13 July.

The IAFEP event will gather scholars who focus on the economics of democratic and participatory organisations – for example, labour-managed firms, co-operatives and firms with broad-based employee share-ownership, profit sharing and worker participation schemes, as well as democratic nonprofit, community and social enterprises.

The organisers are inviting submissions from all relevant fields of study, such as comparative economic systems, industrial and labour economics, organisational studies, management studies, institutional economics, evolutionary economics, organisational studies, management studies, sociology, law and philosophy.

Themes of interest include the incidence of the different types of broad-based financial participation; the effects of the various forms of workers’ financial and decision-making participation on firm performance; the effects of the various forms of financial and decision-making participation on worker outcomes; the specific characteristics of the employees involved in the financial and decision-making participation; the relation of financial and decision-making participation to corporate social responsibility practices, corporate governance, and sustainability of political democracy; and the role of institutional and cultural settings for the implementation and impact of workers’ participation.
