Coming up: Response of cooperatives, education and entrepreneurship to development

The Finnish Co-operative Research Association Kooperatiivi is co-organising a webinar on cooperatives, education and entrepreneurship in developing countries. The event will feature EU commissioner Jutta Urpilainen and President of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Dr Ariel Guarco.

The webinar aims to enable researchers, professionals and policy makers analyse and share views, ideas and experiences on cooperatives, education and entrepreneurship in developing countries. The webinar will have a special focus on Africa.

Topics include whether cooperatives, vocational schools and local businesses are viable options to promote development in Africa. They will also look at when cooperatives are more efficient than other forms of enterprise And there will be analysis of the contributions of cooperatives, education and entrepreneurship to sustainable rural development, agriculture and poverty alleviation in Africa. Participants will also examine Finland's possible additional contribution based on the country's strong cooperative, educational and entrepreneurial tradition.
