2014 Co-operatives Europe General Assembly

Cooperative businesses and organisations from around Europe will meet in Warsaw to debate, exchange and develop new ways of enhancing the cooperative business model for a prosperous and equitable Europe. The event is organised by Cooperatives Europe and the National Cooperative Council of Poland.

With growing economy, demands has became more than the world could cover and started to exceed the natural capacity of planet. While global economy has increasing 7 times in last 50 years, natural life system and habitat have remained principally same. As federation and congress, we wish to contribute to improving agricultural productivity and raising efficient usage of resources and assets.

It would be an honor for Organizing Committee to invite you to ‘’2nd International Congress of Agriculture and Food’’ to contribute the efforts for agricultural development.

The seminar "People-centred businesses: Making Supply Chains work for Small Producers" will take place at the European Parliament. Organized by Cooperatives Europe and the Fair Trade Advocacy Office, the seminar will aim to create a much-needed space for discussion around the risks and opportunities of the private sector working in development. It will highlight the advantages for EU Institutions and other actors to partner with people-centred businesses, such as cooperatives.

Lecture Programme – Co-operative Architecture

The focus of the talk will be the evolution of co-operative central premises buildings in the North West of England in response to their members’ needs. It will also examine the question ‘What did these buildings mean for the co-operative movement, and how were they achieved’?.

Potential and Limits of Social and Solidarity Economy

As interest in alternative production, finance and consumption grows in the face of global crises, this conference will explore the potential and limits of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) — organizations such as cooperatives, women’s self-help groups, social enterprise and associations of informal workers that have explicit social and economic objectives, and involve various forms of cooperation and solidarity.

Community Energy - Local Energy Cooperatives

The region of Lamia in central Greece is suffering from high rates of unemployment. At the same time the cost of electricity and especially oil has been significantly increased within the last year, mainly due to governmental policies.
The NGO "KAPA Network" and the recently established farmers cooperative "Stevia Hellas" are organizing an event in order to:
- Learn more about energy cooperatives, since such schemes are totally unknown in Greece
