The Co-operative Wholesale Society began 150 years ago with a tea party at Jumbo Farm in Middleton. At our Jumbo Fairtrade Tea Party families can celebrate this anniversary and find out about Fairtrade today!

There will be a wide range of activities for all ages including making a Play-Doh cake, hosting a mini tea party, decorating a Fairtrade cookie and making a Fairtrade badge.

From Jumbo Farm to Jam Factory

The Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS) celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. This temporary exhibition will explore the early development of the CWS from its origins at a Jumbo Farm tea party to its position as a major manufacturer.

Find out more about the people who helped to create the CWS, the difficulties they faced and their successes. Take part in interactive games and activities as you follow the exhibition through the museum, hold a tea party to learn more about the CWS Preserve Works in Middleton and share your own memories of the CWS.

Hebden Bridge Co-ops trail

Following on from a historical perspective of co-ops in Hebden Bridge at 9.45 at Sandy Gate Baptist cemetery, there will be a guided trail of present day co-ops in the town, starting at Zion Housing Co-op at 6-8 Nutclough, Hebden Bridge HX7 8HA from 12 midday.
Our co-ops include housing, organic food, community supported forestry, low energy lighting, personal care, car hire, bakery, local food and a community pub.

Co-op Service Day in Pittsburgh!

On Saturday, July 6th (International Cooperatives Day), the East End Food Co-op will coordinate volunteers from various cooperatives to prepare and serve a meal to 10-14 residents of the Orr Compassionate Care Center, a non-medical respite facility operated by East End Cooperative Ministry in East Liberty. These are individuals who have had a recent hospital stay or medical crisis and do not have an appropriate place to recover, or who do not have people to provide basic assistance during their recovery.

2013 Co-op Day at the Blue Jays Game

To celebrate 2013 Co-op Day, COCHF is organizing a trip to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Minnesota Twins on Saturday July 6, 2013. In addition to inviting members of housing co-ops across Southern Ontario, we are also inviting staff & members of all types of co-ops in Ontario.

250 people have purchased tickets to the July 6th Toronto Blue Jays game vs. Minnesota Twins. We hope to use this event to strengthen relationships within the co-op network, and promote co-ops on our banners, and get on the jumbo screen!

Heritage Open Days, Pioneer Grave Promenade

Fifteen of the original 28 Rochdale Pioneers are buried in Rochdale Cemetery. Take a stroll around a selection of the graves with staff from the Rochdale Pioneers Museum. You will find out about the lives of the individual Pioneers buried there and their contribution to the co-operative movement.
